Photo Journal Day 5

Day 5......

Today involved a lot of "strategy" by the boys as they played a game of Risk.

Close up of one of the Risk soldiers.

Here is a picture of my "4 kids" :)

I think this wins as the worst picture of the day, silly kids.

I know I am a little biased, but what a cute kid!!!!

Photo Journal Day 4

There is nothing like a nice warm bubbly bath in a tub with jets!
Hello there little girls with beards??!!

Pure joy!

"This is the life!"

Where o where has Elijah gone? :)

Play time at a local park.

And in our mind..this would be our worst picture of the day cause it just sounds terrible to all of us. I am sure there are many people who would disagree though!
The middle shake is a peanut butter and bacon flavored shake... totally unwilling to pay the money to try it because it might be nasty!

Photo Journal Day 3

Day 3 of out Western Adventure.... Most resourceful pic of the day
Today we saved a little money and time by making peanut butter and jelly sandwiches while we were driving through Kansas. I even cut up apples with a plastic butter knife, fun eating adventures in the car!

Worst picture of the day... :)

Poor kids, Terp was the only one who got to ride Dumbo :(

Day 2 of photo journal

Photo Journal Day 2

Bryan, Terp and Mercy decided to help Josh and Jaclyn build a couple  bookshelves while we stayed here today. Mercy loved being  helper.

My buddy Jaclyn and me had a lot of laughs today. I am glad we decided to swing by for a visit on our way westward. I finally went through Kansas now too, so can add a new state to my list of states that I have visited :)

Our Best picture today was a great shot of Elijah shooting down a water slide. Our friends Josh and Jaclyn took us to a fun water park near their new house in Topeka, Kansas.

Our worst picture of the day was Terp's attempt at trying a new "Southern" flavor of Lay's potato chips...are you all ready for this combination? Chicken and waffles..I need not say more because her face says it all.

Day 1 Photo post

Worse pictures of the day...
Crazy family riding in the back of the van :)

This truck made us all laugh a lot. The sign said "inedible fat: not intended for human food" We will be sure not to have a snack from this truck if offered!

Best Picture of the day.....
We got to hang out with Josh and Jaclyn and learn a new game!

Fundraising Opportunity for West Michigan Friends!

Hey Friends,

I am very excited to announce a partnership for the month of August to raise money for Beautiful Gate Lesotho.  If you're in the Holland area maybe you've heard about a new business called Coast 3.  It was started by some friends of ours from Haven Church.  In a nutshell, they offer all kinds of outdoor adventure equipment for rent and also have a very cool monthly membership program that is really starting to take off.  Our friend, Christina Terpstra (Terp) has had the opportunity to hang out at the store and the staff and equipment is top notch.  Coast 3 not only provides great opportunities for people to go and enjoy the outdoors, but they provide opportunities for families to come together, put away all the things that distract them from each other and make memories that will last a lifetime.

The promotion they are offering is that for every person, couple, or family that signs up for a membership in the month of August, they will donate the first month's membership dues to Beautiful Gate.  If we could get 100 people to take advantage of this great deal we'd raise between $5,000 - $10,000!  It's a win win win: we support a new local business, you get a great deal on outdoor gear, and together we support the children at Beautiful Gate!

For more information on how to take advantage of the year round membership and in turn support Beautiful Gate Click here.  By getting outside and enjoying time with your family, you are helping us feed, clothe, care for and bring hope to the children and staff at Beautiful Gate Lesotho.

Thank you so much for giving to the lives of the children at Beautiful Gate Lesotho.

Heading West

I have just spent an entire day washing laundry, folding clothes, packing suitcases and organizing my kids room so we can leave Oma and Papa's house a little less messy :) We have been in and out of their house all month and it has been a bit hectic as we have been trying to see as many people as we could before our adventures out west. Well, tomorrow is the day. We are leaving for Colorado, with an extra day in Topeka, Kansas to visit our old neighbors. We will be in CO for 2 days and then we will fly off to Canada. In Canada, we will be seeing many former BG children who have been adopted and we will participate in a 5K run/walk (yep, we will be walking it cause we are out of shape) fundraiser for Beautiful Gate. Bryan, Terp and I will also be presenting about BG at Sunrise adoption agency.
We then move on to California where we will get to give updates at Crosspoint CRC and The River CRC. My children have been asked to share about their experience at Beautiful Gate and I believe that there may be bribery involving Disney Land tickets so my kids are a LITTLE excited :) We will get to see many volunteers who have come through Beautiful Gate since we have been living there and I look forward to those reunions!
After California, we will return to Colorado where our family will have 5 days alone in the mountains at a cabin, aaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! I am pretty sure we are going to enjoy our only vacation together during our furlough. Hiking, playing, swimming, reading and relaxing as a family. Our kids have and will soon endure more meetings and presentations with Bryan and I being a little busy so I look forward to letting them set the agenda for our vacation (better pray that they are gentle on us though, haha).
Bryan, Terp, the kids and I have a goal while we are on our trip out west. We are going to try to post 2 pictures every time we have internet access. One will be our best picture of the day and the other will be our worse picture of the day. My kids LOVE to photo bomb pictures now thanks to our former volunteer, Paige, so this adventure should be enjoyable!
